What do I need to do next?

This blog really follows on from the blog from April 11th,  on this website when we looked at the promises we see in Bible prophecy and that blog ended with:

Like the Israelites being led by Moses, we too are in our wilderness as we await the glorious time to come in our promised land that will be perfect when Jesus returns! We must patiently be awaiting this prophesied time. That future time to come is described in Revelation 21:1-4.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.

What an exciting bible prophecy that we can look forward to. It is something we can focus on and try to live our lives in such a way that we are part of this promise. We see so much on social media these days about all the trouble in the world whether it be in Myanmar, Cuba, Syria, USA – many of the news articles reflect on the unrest in the world. It is so sad. But there is hope. The bible as we have seen from recent blog posts is full of hope.

Have you ever thought what you might need to do to be part of this promise? Our blogs have plenty of information concerning this and we are here to chat to you at any time – just reach out. The bible guides us and that is our guide for life.

The apostle John told us that we should show God’s love to others. 1 John chapter 4 verse 21 “And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.”

Proverbs tell us that only those who respect God will have any hope for the future – it tells us not to rely on our own ideas as that is not the way to be. Proverbs chapter 16 verse 25 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death.”

In the book of Galatians, Paul explains how we can be involved in God’s plan: Galatians chapter 3 verses 8 and 9 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. It is those who believe and have faith in what God has told us who will be involved in His plan.

When we understand and have faith in God’s plan, Paul explains what we should do to demonstrate our belief: Galatians chapter 3 verses 27 to 29 “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

So, by being baptized, people from all nations can be involved in the promises that God made to Abraham and his descendants the Jews.

In the book of Acts chapter 16 and verse 30 Paul was asked a question by the jailer at Philippi after the earthquake had freed him and Silas. The jailer asked: “What must I do to be saved?”. This is the most pertinent question facing everyone who comes to the realization that man is mortal and we are all sinners before God. Again, the answer was direct and to the point: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” verse 31 of Acts chapter 16.

In the book of Mark chapter 16 and verses 15 and 16, Jesus gave this simple but vital commandment to his disciples: “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be condemned”.
